SOUR taste qualities - good effects and side effects

 GOOD morning dears today we can  learn about sour taste.


As soon as you read this article I am sure your mind could have thought about the green mangoes and tamarind....HOw do you feel now? MOUTH watering,yes  it increases salivation of mouth and increases appetite, so only in our favourite dishes like rasam and curd we have it....


Sour taste is found in foods such as citrus fruits ,sour cream ,vinegar ,cheese 🧀 ,lemon 🍋grapes 🍇 , and fermented foods .Sour substances are liquid ,light heating and moisty in Nature .When used in moderation they are refreshing and delicious ,good for our 5 senses,stimulate appetite and salivation,improve digestion ,energize the body ,nourish the heart and enlighten the mind .,hot in potency cold in touch .Sour taste satiates ,causes moistening ,causes aggrevation of kapha , pittha and blood and makes the inactive vata move downward .


  • IF used in excess, it can cause excess thirst,hyperacidity,heart burn ,acid indigestion ,ulcers and sensitive teeth .As it has a fermenting action ,it may b toxic to the blood and causes skin conditions such as dermatitis ,acne,eczema ,boils and psoriasis .The hot quality may lead to an acid pH in the body and may cause burning in the throat ,chest,heart ,bladder and urethra.
